Privacy policy & POPIA notice

1. Who we are

MzansiCraft is a South African web design and development studio, founded and operated by Omphile Malepe. For the purposes of POPIA we are the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice. 2. What we collect

We only collect what we need in order to answer you and do the work:

• When you use the contact form: your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, business name, current website, the service and package you are interested in, your timeline and whatever you write in the project description.
• When you email or WhatsApp us: your contact details and the content of your message.
• When we work together: the information needed to build and register your site — for example billing details, domain registration details and any content you send us.

We do not run advertising trackers, analytics profiling or behavioural targeting on this website.

3. Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
• To deliver, host and support the website you have commissioned.
• To invoice you and keep the records that South African tax law requires.
• To contact you about your own project — not to send marketing you did not ask for.

Our lawful basis is your consent (given when you submit the form) and, once you become a client, the performance of our contract with you and our legal obligations.

4. Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information, and we never share it for someone else’s marketing. A small number of service providers process information on our behalf so that this website can work:

• Formspree — receives and forwards contact-form submissions to our inbox.
• ImprovMX — forwards email sent to our @mzansicraftstudio.co.za address to our inbox.
• Our hosting provider — serves this website and keeps standard server logs.
• Embedded demos — our portfolio page embeds a live demo site hosted on Netlify. Loading that frame contacts Netlify.
• Domain registrars — for clients, the details required to register a .co.za or .com domain in your name.

Some of these providers operate outside South Africa. Where that happens, information is transferred under the conditions POPIA sets for cross-border transfers.

5. Cookies and browser storage

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It stores one thing in your browser: your light or dark theme choice, saved in localStorage so the site remembers it on your next visit. That value never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Clearing your browser data removes it.

6. How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become projects: kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Client records: kept for the duration of our working relationship and for five years afterwards, as South African financial record-keeping requires.
• Server logs: retained by our hosting provider for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

7. How we protect it

This website is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit. Access to our email and project accounts is protected by strong, unique passwords and multi-factor authentication where the provider supports it. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

8. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
• Object to processing, or withdraw a consent you previously gave.
• Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have mishandled your information.

9. Children

Our services are aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

10. Changes to this notice

If this notice changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting existing clients will also be communicated directly.
